Abstract

These files document Governor Luke P. Blackburn's use of the governor's power and privilege to refuse pardons to convicts and to deny petitions for the postponement and remission of fines. Included are petitions for people convicted of a variety of offenses, which were rejected by the governor, including larceny, adultery, keeping a bawdy house, assault, and murder.
